Symbollism is the use of symbols to signify ideas and qualities by giving them symbolic meanings that are different from their literal sense.
Often times, I notice students getting confused between the words "illusion" and "allusion." There is a BIG difference that needs to be recognized.
An ALLUSION is a brief reference to a person, place, idea, or thing of literary, cultural, political, or historical significance.
